Dear Fire Department Members,

 

Associa – Community Management Corp has been part of the Clifton community for over 35 years and we were happy to participate in the Toys for Tots Drive.  Brave members of the Clifton Fire Department Engine 6 collected over 100 toys from our team to help needy children this holiday season.  We are grateful for their efforts and the service they provide to our community.

NJ FMBA Fund Raising Hockey Game

NJ FMBA Fund Raising Hockey Game

On Saturday January 7, 2017 the NJ FMBA will be having a Fund Raising game at the Prudential Center. All the money raised will go towards the NJ FMBA PAC. See the flyer below for information on how to get your tickets.

This is a special night in that it is Firefighter Appreciation Night and all firefighters are invited to attend. The NJ FMBA Honor Guard will present the Colors before the game and Deputy Chief Kevin Brady from the Linden FD will sing the National Anthem! We are also working on a ceremonial puck drop before the game!

Clifton FMBA 21 Coat Drive

This year’s Coat Drive, organized by Clifton Fire – FMBA Local 21 Firefighters Union, will run the month of OCTOBER.

We utilize the six firehouses in Clifton as collection points for the Coat Drive.

Sign-A-Rama on VanHouten Avenue in Clifton donated the signs that we post outside of the firehouses.

Deluxe Cleaners on Main Avenue and Saveway Cleaners on Allwood Road in Clifton donate their laundering services before the coats are delivered to St. Peter’s Haven on Clifton Avenue in Clifton, and other charity organizations.

 

We also run a Toys for Tots drive in November/December and a Food Drive in May.

Assistance Needed! Please help our Brother in Blue from Clifton Police PBA 36

Friends and Family,

Unfortunately one of our own, Patrolman Mike Howe, has suffered a stroke while vacationing in Aruba this past week. The only way for him to return to the US was by medivac since he has no use of his left side. The cost for this service is $38,000. We are asking friends and family to help by donating whatever you can afford to help ease the burden of such a high cost.

Patrolman Howe has been a member of the Clifton Police Department since 2003. He is also an Army veteran who has fought for this country in a number of Iraqi wars including Desert Storm.

Veteran Needs Emergency Assistance

Michael Howe, a.k.a. Mighty, went on vacation to Aruba with his wife Nancy last week.  Unfortunately, Mighty suffered a stroke.  He is now in the hospital in Aruba.  The left side of his body is paralyzed. While we would think that the doctors in Aruba are doing everything they can to help Mighty, his pressure has not gone down much over the past week.  The doctors will not release him, and he is unable to fly home.  We are looking to raise money to have him medivaced home, back to America ASAP.  The cost to have him medivaced is $38,000. We believe that once Mighty is back here in the states, he will get the proper care.

Mighty is a decorated officer with the Clifton Police Force.  He is also a veteran who fought in a number of Iraqi wars, including Desert Storm.

Your donations will be GREATLY appreciated.

******UPDATE******

Due to the severity of Mighty’s condition, it was best to bring him home sooner rather than later. Several credit cards were used to cover the $38,000 medivac fee.

In addition to the high interest rate on these credit cards, an international transfer fee was also assessed.
Medical costs continue to mount, and health insurance does not cover medi-vac services.

Your continued support will truly be a blessing to the family.

Clifton Fire Department Provides Comfort For Animals

CLIFTON, N.J. — The Clifton Fire Department will try to keep the furrier members of the community warm with a blanket collection drive.

The department is collecting blankets to donate to the Clifton Animal Shelter. This is the second year of the fundraiser.

Ann-Marie Lancaster, who works in the fire department’s office, said she saw many animals sleeping on towels and wanted to provide something cozier.

“It gives them a sense of comfort because generally the animals, if they’re adopted, they’ll go home with the blanket they bonded to,” Lancaster told Daily Voice. “It eases the anxiety in the shelter.”

Lancaster collected more than 100 blankets in 2014 and has about 70 so far this year. Most are homemade but people without sewing skills can also donate new ones.

The department seeks 14-by-14-inch blankets for cats and small dogs, or 24-by-24 and 36-by-36 inches for larger breeds.

Evelyn Aekley of the Clifton Animal Shelter said Lancaster is their biggest backer.

“The fire department here in Clifton has been a faithful annual supporter,” Aekley said. “They have always brought their influence to bear on the public to knit blankets. It’s wonderful to know [the animals] will have these lovingly made blankets.”

The department will collect blankets until Dec. 15.

FMBA 21 Thanks YOU! – Food Drive 2015

The firefighters of Clifton FMBA Local 21 have completed this year’s Food Drive. This was the 3rd year that FMBA 21 has organized a collection. Food was collected at all six firehouses and the collections were delivered to St. Peter’s Haven in Clifton on Thursday June 4th. FMBA 21 would like to thank its members and the community for coming together to support the drive. It is very rewarding to be able to serve the community and help those in need. We would also like to remind you that the coat drive will run in October and Toys for Tots will run in December.
